Behaviour

Good behaviour in schools is central to a good education. Across the GLA, we understand that our schools and staff need to manage behaviour well to provide calm, safe, and supportive environments where children want to attend and where they can learn and thrive.

Our Behaviour Values and Rules at Bishop’s Cleeve Primary Academy

At our school, we believe that every child deserves the chance to Be the Best They Can Be. That’s why we follow four key values and four simple behaviour rules that guide everything we do.

Our Four Core Values

  •        Respect – We treat others with kindness and value everyone’s differences.
  •        Responsibility – We take ownership of our actions and learning.
  •        Resilience – We keep going, even when things get tough.
  •        Reach – We aim high and help every pupil reach their full potential.

Our Four Behaviour Rules

  •      Be Kind – We speak and act with care and respect.
  •      Be Safe – We look after ourselves and others.
  •      Be Determined – We try our best and never give up.
  •      Be Ready – We come prepared to learn and grow.

How We Put This into Action

  •      We set high expectations for behaviour so every pupil can achieve their best.
  •      We help pupils build strong learning habits for success in school and life.
  •      We celebrate each pupil’s potential, encouraging independence and confidence.
  •      We create a space where pupils learn to be responsible and reflect on their choices.
  •      We have zero tolerance for bullying and work hard to keep everyone safe.
  •      We use clear systems to support and reward positive behaviour.
  •      We work closely with parents and carers to support every child’s journey.

These values and rules guide how we communicate, act, and support each other every day.

Levels of Behaviour

We use a tiered system to:

  •       Set clear expectations so everyone knows what good behaviour looks like.
  •       Respond fairly to different behaviours with appropriate support or consequences.
  •       Support pupils who need help to improve, before issues escalate.
  •      Celebrate positive behaviour and encourage pupils to aim high.
  •       Promote our values of Reach, Responsibility, Resilience, and Respect through consistent routines and responses.

This approach helps every child feel safe, supported, and ready to learn.
