Our House Captains are responsible for over-seeing the house points in the Juniors and collecting the weekly totals to add to the totaliser. At the end of each term, the winning house will receive a treat afternoon where they can celebrate their success! These treats range from Forest School to sports and film afternoons. The House Captains also set house competitions to challenge the juniors in areas such as creative writing, art and whacky reading. In the summer term, the captains are encouraged to support their teams and the organisation of sports day. The winning house will finish with a victory lap around the school field!
Prefects help to monitor the KS2 playground, supporting the lunchtime and break duty staff in many ways. They offer a helping hand or a friendly ear to the children in the quiet area and look out for children who need a friend. They pack away the play equipment, monitor the PE equipment and ensure lines are standing quietly once the whistle has blown. During parent open mornings, the children are responsible for running guided tours and answering any questions that may arise. Throughout the school year, the Prefects are also asked to act as ambassadors for school events ranging from church readings to visiting peer schools. However, due to the current climate we now find ourselves in, the children will be supporting the rest of the school virtually (through the use of TEAMS and other social media platforms). They will also be involved in the creation of a video prospectus of BCPA for prospective parents. How exciting does that sound!
School Improvement Team
Our School Improvement Team is responsible for carrying out many tasks which benefit others at BCPA. When possible, This will continue with the daily collection of recycling; the weekly sorting out and returning of any lost property; The daily collection of litter from the playground; and organisation of the school's UNITED LEGO. The School Improvement Team Will also be involved with many maintenance tasks, under the careful tutelage of our caretaker, Mr Romero, and we look forward to these continuing this year. Excitingly, and new for this year, our SIT will also take a more active role in facilitating Pupil Voices across both key stages. At the moment, this will need to happen virtually but we know they will enjoy the added responsibility.
