Be the best you can be

Dear Parents & Carers,

Since Mrs Comfort left the post of Head Teacher in the Spring term, I haveImage of Steve Savory resumed the post I held for 17 years in an acting capacity. I loved being the Head teacher of Bishop's Cleeve Primary and the school, pupils and community hold a special place in my heart. BCPA is one of the founder schools of the GLA Education Trust for which I am also the Chief Executive officer.

I was able to be the Acting Head onsite for a week before the Coronavirus lockdown. Since then, and due to my own 'vulnerable' health status, I have relied on the brilliant Mrs Emily Watton, Deputy Head teacher to organise and manage all activity in the school. Mrs Watton has been the marvellous 'face' of the school, as well as 'organiser in chief' whilst we have opened for Key Worker children and the wider opening for Y1 and Y6. The Bishop's Cleeve staffing team have been as fantastic, committed and as caring as I would expect. They really know how to respond in a crisis. Emily and I will continue to work together for the rest of this term whilst we seek to appoint a permanent Head Teacher for September 2020.

Mr Steve Savory

Acting Head Teacher: Bishop's Cleeve Primary Academy

CEO: Gloucestershire Learning Alliance

Welcome to Bishop’s Cleeve Primary Academy.

'Leaders are ambitious for pupils. They provide an inclusive environment where differences are valued. The school's work to promote pupils' personal development and welfare is outstanding' - Ofsted 2018.

Here at Bishop's Cleeve, our children are at the heart of everything we do. WeImage of Deputy Head, Mrs Watton strive for every child to fulfil their potential and to 'be the best they can be'! We are incredibly proud of our school and, as part of the Gloucestershire Learning Alliance, work continually to improve our practice and give our children the very best opportunities to ignite their enthusiasm for learning.

Set within 16 acres, outdoor learning is actively encouraged at BCPA. We offer two generous Forest School zones; separate infant and junior playgrounds; a large outdoor play area for our Early Years provision; and a huge field which spans the full length of our site.

Along with our website, we have a school Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/BCPAcademy/ which is regularly updated with useful links, news and photos/videos of our school in action. Each year group also has their own blog where children's learning is showcased. The links for these can be found via the 'Year Group' tabs on our web page.

We are pleased to operate an 'open door policy' here at BCPA and are always available via phone or email. As schools begin to return to normal following the Covid-19 closures, we look forward to being able to invite both current and prospective families to come and see us in action.
